Owed a CIS tax
refund? Let's get
it back.

If you're a subbie, HMRC has taken 20% (or 30%) off every payment all year. Most subbies are owed a refund — often £1,500–£3,000, though it depends on your income and expenses. And you can claim back up to 4 years.

Trust matters

Beware the refund cowboys.

Common questions

CIS refunds, answered.

How much CIS refund will I get?

Most subcontractors are owed £1,500–£3,000 a year, but it depends on your income, your expenses and whether you were deducted at 20% or 30%. Use the estimator above for a quick figure, or send us your numbers for an exact one.

How long does a CIS refund take?

Usually around 2 weeks from filing, though HMRC security checks or the January rush can add time. We file quickly and keep you posted.

I've lost my CIS statements — can I still claim?

Yes. It's the number-one worry and it's rarely a problem — we can reconstruct your figures from your bank statements and contractor records. Don't let missing paperwork cost you your refund.

Can I claim for previous years?

Usually up to 4 tax years — so if you've never claimed, there could be several thousand pounds waiting. The oldest year expires each April, so it's worth checking now.

What does it cost?

A fixed fee, agreed in writing before we start — never a percentage of your refund. You'll know exactly what it costs up front, and your refund is paid straight to you.
